The Legend Nelda was born in Ft. Worth Texas, the youngest daughter of a Baptist preacher, and the granddaughter of a reformed Arkansas Fiddler and Moon shiner. They say she was singing almost before she could talk, and though that seems a little unlikely, she has been singing pretty much nonstop as long as anybody can remember. This is mostly a good thing, but sometimes it might be nice if .... oh never mind. Nelda grew up more or less, and met George Sisk while visiting his hometown, Chico California. When George discovered Nelda was single and owned an Oscar Schmidt Autoharp, a Martin 00018 guitar, and knew the lyrics to more songs than even he did, he invited her to come and live with him in his teepee on the banks of Butte Creek, where they were married in a double toe ring ceremony by a Universal Life Church minister wearing nothing but a beautifully embroidered black velvet cape. For the first few years they wandered playing music and supplementing their meager income by catching chickens, picking cherries, planting Kiwi’s, and anything else they could find. They finally settled on Orcas Island in Washington State and raised their beautiful daughter Angelina and Appaloosa Horses. Through the years they went through many musical incarnations together, From the Butte Creek Family Jamboree to Cabin Fever, The New Tasmanian Devils and The Sisko Kids, They've played bluegrass, country, rock, jazz and everything in between, while developing their own unique style of Americana music. Nelda and George and their son Marcus relocated to Tennessee in 1996, and one thing led to another. Nelda has been a finalist in the Kerrville New Folk Contest both years that she entered. (1999 and 2001) and George and Nelda signed a staff writing deal with Second City Music in 2001. They released their first CD "Strangers in Paradise" and received wide spread radio play on low wattage station. They have been working on their 2nd CD "Wild Chicory" for two years.. Currently The Sisko Kids reside on 7 acres in Gallatin TN with 2 horses, 2 dogs, 2 cats, one teenager (Marcus) and Nelda's parents. All this responsibility keeps the Kids working day jobs, but they continue to make time for music. Nelda plays guitar and is learning mandolin and George plays guitar, bass and 5 string banjo.
